Yes, we do have a function in intranetuserjs
I removed the intranetuserjs and the problem disappeared.

To respond to Tomas Cohen Arazi's question, I was specifically changing the
HTML5MediaEnabled setting when I  first encountered the problem.  I tried
it with a few other preferences with the same result. It wasn't the
preference itself that was causing the problem, but something to do with
the fact that I had searched for the preference - limiting the preferences
displayed to those with the search term in them. As soon as I removed the
intranet user JavaScript the problem stopped.
