I believe you are being affected by the following two bugs, both making
their way through QA right now:

Callnumber sort doesn't work:
http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=8657
 defaultSortOrder and OPACdefaultSortOrder are set to "ascending" on
install http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=8012

Hopefully soon these patches will get through QA and you will be able to
update to get everything in order. :)
