[Koha] patron login via URL

I am creating some generic patron logins that would be done via a url
like the following

http://koha.host.org/cgi-bin/koha/opac-main.pl?userid=MYPATRON&password=PATRONPASSWORD&koha_login_context=opac

When I use the link it appears to work and I get a welcome to the user
at the top right, but once they do a search it appears the session is
lost.  Is there a security setting that prevents this type of logon.
