Unfortunately, the Collapsed part of the hidden field is not reliably
implemented at the moment. Currently, as you discovered, to prevent a field
from collapsing you have to make it mandatory.

This is definitely a bug; if no matching report exists on bugs.koha.org,
please open one. If there is one, please vote for it!
