[Koha] Cataloging Error

Hi Ashley!

I've never used 3.18, so my answer might not be 100% right.

I often get that error if I don't fill out the control fields (000, 003,
008, and especially 005 which I always forget).

If you want to see which fields are mandatory, go to Administration >
MARC bibliographic framework. Be sure to check the right framework you
were using while cataloging (to check that, click on the Settings button
in the cataloging form https://snag.gy/cNuFsB.jpg)

Once you're in the right framework, there is a column that says
"Mandatory". This applies to the entire field. So for example, 000 is
mandatory. However, subfields also have a "mandatory" flag. I'm not sure
if you can have a mandatory subfield in a non mandatory field (not sure
that makes sense), but I'd check that too. For example, 245 might not be
mandatory, but 245 $a might be mandatory.

If you don't want to check all the 999+ subfields manually, you can
export your framework in Excel or equivalent and check the mandatory
column for 1's.

Let me know if you need more help!

Caroline
