[Koha] slow check out/check in

Patrons seem to pull up fine, but, there seems to be a 30 second delay in
any part of the circulation module.

Mass checking in a stack of books is taking huge amounts of time due to the
30 second delay between scanning and the ability to do the next scan.

Anything I can try for a quick fix on this ??
