Hi Owen,

How about when we alter and save some system preference(s),
a gray semi-transparent box appears.... like this:

One point in its favor can be the element of UI consistency,
perhaps.

Highlighting a row seems good too. But what if not all the rows
are visible on a certain screen's view area when the staff will press
the check-in button. Could happen.
