Perhaps you should consider waiting a little for Koha 30 release.
Then your performances will be great.
On a 600.000 biblio records pretty fully indexed, mysql as it is in Koha
2.2. will get you slow answers.
We consider that up to 300.000 Koha 22 can do the job.
But 3.0 was designed to manage up to 5 million records and give answers
in less than a second.
