Re: access to supply of MARC records.

The school library community uses LM_Net - the school library network
(prolific, be warned) and posted the following page to provide sources
of MARC records and directions for their use:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Free_MARC_Records/message/53

For those with no library background, these may need editing:
1) Your location, shelving classification etc
2) Subject headings appropriate to your needs and master list
3) Quick addition of summary and other notes to enhance subject access
beyond the minimalist LC headings.

There are editors.

The Library of Congress page has conversion utilities on the page given
earlier (http://www.lcweb.loc.gov/marc/marctools.html).

If you have a whole library to do, it is worth paying for access to a
commercial source.

Cheers,
Anne
