Hello, I'd like to ask anyone interested in programming Koha to help me with debugging Koha sources on MacBook Pro (OSX Yosemite). I am using Eclipse Luna (4.4.0) with Perl plugin EPIC. I have downloaded Koha sources from GIT repository, but the IDE still complains about missing libraries although I tried to install them from CPAN. Is there anybody debugging on OSX? Or, maybe, Is Koha able to run on OSX? Thank you all. Radek Siman
It's possible but rather difficult to run Koha on Mac OS X; getting the required versions of the various dependencies built and installed is far trickier than on Linux. Would running Debian within a VirtualBox be a possibility? From what I can understand of http://www.epic-ide.org/guide/ch06s02.php#N10812 , using Eclipse/EPIC should still be a possibility. 2015-01-13 2:21 GMT-07:00 Radek Siman <radek.siman@centrum.cz>:

When we were testing Koha, we ran it on a Mac OSX using VMware. It worked fine, though admittedly I didn't have a lot of records loaded. On Thu, Jan 15, 2015 at 12:00 AM, Jesse <pianohacker@gmail.com> wrote:

Further to that, you can give the kohadevbox a try at http://github.com/digibib/kohadevbox Cheers, Liz On 21/01/15 15:30, Riley Childs wrote:

Hie, I'm so happy someone asks for developing with Eclipse. At Biblibre, me and one colleague use it since many years. But our desktop OS is Ubuntu. I'd say install a virtualbox with a desktop Debian Wheezy. You will be able to run Eclipse and install Koha dependancies by using koha-perldeps from repository : http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_3.x_on_Debian_Squeeze I had the plan to create a wiki page for Eclipse. There are a lot of tricks to ease development. Regards, Le 13/01/2015 10:21, Radek Siman a écrit :

reading the docs i don't find the command 'koha-perldeps'. Is it a special package on koha apt repo ? Or is it a command available after installed the package 'koha-common' ? Hie Zeno, "koha-perldeps" is the name of the meta-package having all perl libs has dependancies. You can install it even if you do not install "koha-common". We use it to maintain our dev env. Regards, Le 23/01/2015 12:06, Zeno Tajoli a écrit :
