Hi I have a question about the place hold system. The user A reserve one book and reservation is accepted by the librarian. The user B want to reserve the same book, in the opac-search page is not possible to reserve it because the link "place hold" is disabled, but if the user go in the opac-details page is possible to reserve again the book. I'm a little bit confused... is a bug or one option to disable? Because I want that the book if is already reserved is not possible to reserve it at the same time. Thanks a lot Daniel -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Items-Already-placed-hold-tp4441669p444166... Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Koha follows what I think is a pretty widely understood pattern for handling holds: The purpose of placing a hold on a book is to give other users the chance to "get in line" for the book. If the book I want is checked out, I place a hold so that when it is returned it gets set aside for me. If someone else has a hold on the book first, then my hold is put on the list behind his. This is not a bug, it's how we've all agreed holds should work. -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org
Hi Thanks for the explication! But I don't understood why if one book is reserved in the opac-search the link place hold disappear but in the page opac-details the place holds button is there. Do you have the ReservesNeedReturns system preferences set to "Automatically mark holds as found and waiting when a hold is placed specifically on them and they are already checked in." ? If so, you may running into a known bug (http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=4319). If the only available copy is marked as "waiting" (i.e. the item has been allocated for a hold), the search results page says it is not available to hold. The patch attached to that bug report fixes the problem in the staff client but not the OPAC. -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org
Hi Yes you right is set to automatically! Daniel -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Items-Already-placed-hold-tp4441669p444212... Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
One other question, How the user B can know, when the user A has returned the book? There is a mail notification? -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Items-Already-placed-hold-tp4441669p445891... Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
