No patron search results in Koha 16.05.09
Hi Today I updated a Koha installation from 3.20.03 to 16.05.09 (oldstable) via "apt-get install koha-common". * OS: Debian GNU/Linux 8 (Linux 3.16.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP) * Perl-Version: 5.020002 * Apache-Version: 2.4.10 (Debian) * Zebra-Version: 2.0.59 * Plack is not in use After the update the patron search via Koha menu "Patrons" is no more working. After searching for a patron just the header line with "Card / Name / Date of birth etc" appears but no actual results. Using the Koha menu "Circulation" patron search is working, e. g. in "Check out" where it is possible to enter patron card number or partial name. And of course all these patrons can be found in the database using SQL. Could this be a bug? Best wishes: Michael -- Geschäftsführer · Diplombibliothekar BBS, Informatiker eidg. Hi Michael, try to clear your cache first - it can be one reason this happens. Also take a look at the networking tab in the dev tools of your browser if the problem remains to see what happens there. Hope this helps, Katrin On 08.02.2017 23:02, Michael Kuhn wrote:

Hi Katrin
try to clear your cache first - it can be one reason this happens. Also take a look at the networking tab in the dev tools of your browser if the problem remains to see what happens there.
It was the cache! Seems like if nothing else is working it's always the cache (but I forget about it sometimes...) Herzlichen Dank & viele Grüsse: Michael
Dear Katrin and colleagues, We have koha 16.11.06 installed and we are facing this exact issues. We have tried clearing the cache but the problem still persists. what else could we do? Thanks Anselm On Thu, Feb 9, 2017 at 1:25 AM, Michael Kuhn <mik@adminkuhn.ch> wrote:

"Clearing the cache" in my case meant pressing CTRL+F5 in the webbrowser. If that doesn't work the first time it may work the second time... If this still doesn't work for you I would try: 1. Restart Koha (including Plack): $ sudo service koha-common restart 2. Are you sure your patrons are actually in the database? You should find them executing for example the following SQL statement: mysql> SELECT * FROM borrowers; Hope this helps. Dear Michael, Thanks for your guidance. However, I have checked and the patrons are in the database. Doing CTRL + F5 and $ sudo service koha-common restart has not resolved the issue. However, I have now discovered that the problem happens when the number of search items returned is more that 20 items. When the search results is less that 20 items, items are displayed as expected. Could you kindly advise on what else I may look at to resolve this issue. Regards Anselm On Fri, Apr 7, 2017 at 1:28 AM, Michael Kuhn <mik@adminkuhn.ch> wrote:

Rut risking to sound funny I just ask: When you just search patrons and you get the list... Maybe you haven't seen that small button at the top saying "Show 20 entries"... the number of entries can be changed to 10 20 50 100 or All. Otherwise I have no idea at the moment... Dear Michael and colleagues, I have even modified the patrons system preference to list 5 entries per page. Still the problem persists. I even installed koha version 3.22, and still same problem exists. Anybody else, please help in trying to understand what may be the issue Thanks Anselm O On Fri, Apr 7, 2017 at 7:02 PM, Michael Kuhn <mik@adminkuhn.ch> wrote:

Anselm, You are using a non supported version of Koha, you should try and update it to a more recent one. What you describe can happen if the JSON returned by the server is malformed. To check that, before launching a patron search, open the browser's console (firebug or dev tool) and copy/paste the server's answer into a JSON validator tool. You will then see if some of your patron's data break the JSON structure. Regards, Jonathan On Wed, 12 Apr 2017 at 08:14 Anselm Olweny <aolweny@gmail.com> wrote:

I had a similar thought to Jonathan. When I've seen patrons not returning in the patron search, it is usually because of corrupt/malformed data in the database. joy On Wed, Apr 12, 2017 at 8:43 AM, Jonathan Druart < jonathan.druart@bugs.koha-community.org> wrote:

Thanks Jonathan and Joy. Let me do what you suggest and will update you. But you must be right I am upgrading koha from 3.01 to latest. Something may have gone wrong with database. After the update the patron search via Koha menu "Patrons" is no more working.
