Sorry, sent this the first time from the wrong address. Hope you don't get it twice. Does anyone have any good z39.50 targets in France. At least half our library are books published in France and entering then in manually is getting tedious. I've found that the National Library of Scotland runs an excellent target for books published in the UK, and the Library of Congress target is good for many technical books, but I can't get a response out of any of the targets I've tried in France. Any help would be appreciated. Best regards Nigel

I could'nt find a public one, even with the help of the french mailing list. So if anyone has a suggesion, i would be happy to read it too... (note the BNC -canada- has a nice z39.50 marc21 public access : amicus. In this server, you will find many french books) -- Paul POULAIN Consultant indépendant en logiciels libres responsable francophone de koha (SIGB libre http://www.koha-fr.org)

Nicolas Morin sent me the following URL, http://sibel.enssib.fr/index.php3?m=c&c=341 which I had already found, but which I will now work through more systematically (I've tried the various University of Lyons targets but to no avail).

That is an excellent idea and I'll try that too. As a matter of interest, would anyone be interested if I started to maintain a list of general, public z39.50 targets? Many thanks for the response. Best regards Nigel

At the Swiss National Library http://www.snl.ch/ you will find all French books published in Switzerland Infos about the gateway at: http://193.135.174.15:8027/gw_41_9/html/helveticat/fr-ch/help_screens/faqf.h... Since I don't have installed Koha since now, I would be very interested if you can say me if that works with Koha. -- Pierre Keller <Pierre.Keller@bcu.unil.ch> Bibliothèque cantonale et universitaire Université de Lausanne CH-1015 Lausanne Dorigny (Switzerland) WWW: http://www.unil.ch/BCU/docs/pkeller/ Clé PGP: http://www.unil.ch/BCU/docs/pkeller/Keller-PGP.key Tél.: 021/692 48 13

I can't seem to get any response out of it at all with Koha, which is a pity. I tried for some time on Friday night and also during the weekend... no joy :-) Nigel
I know I'm going mad when I start to reply to my own posts. I've discovered a site called http://www.webclarity.info which maintains an online archive of z39.50 servers, which it tests regularly. There are 11 listed sources in France of which the Blois Public library is the only listed public one. Note that webclarity requires you to register, and you then get 20 free "full" searches for z39.50 servers. You need a full search in order to get the IP hostname of the server, so be frugal with your searches. I'm still open to setting up a list of public targets which are proven to work with Koha.
