Dear Friends, We have 50000 records in Koha 3.8.6. For trying stock taking , we input accession numbers in a csv file (45000 records) and uploaded in stock taking module. We got the following error. Gateway Time-out The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application. Whats the meaning of this error? Anybody tried stock taking of huge number of records? -- Vimal Kumar V. Greetings,
We got the following error. Gateway Time-out
The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application.
Whats the meaning of this error?
The problem is that sometimes a process takes a particularly long time. It isn't that it isn't working, but rather than since no HTML/XML output has been sent back to the browser after a given period of time, the browser gives up thinking it is the Gateway's problem. Depending on the process, the server may still be processing things in the background. As such, I'd recommend waiting 10 minutes (that should be more than enough time for some of the longer processes to finish) before retrying with a smaller number of records. GPML, Mark Tompsett

That error means that it took too long to process the upload and the gateway server (not a required part of a Koha installation) gave up waiting. The error is specific to your webserver's configuration, so you probably need to ask the webserver sysadmin to change settings to fix it. As a workaround, could you break the CSV file into smaller parts?
