Where has "OpacNavRight" gone?
Hi Today I was astonished when I was trying to edit Koha system preference "OpacNavRight" - there is no such preference anymore! Also the Koha 19.05 and 19.11 manuals don't mention this preference anymore. But the release https://koha-community.org/koha-19-11-release/ list the following bug as solved: https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=23253 (OpacNavRight does not display correctly for opacuserlogin disabled or self registration) However, we would like to fill the empty space of the right column under the main login form - at the moment it is completely white... now opacnavright is part of news.... I mean you can fill a new and put on the old opacnavright place ... The answer is in the bug which that bug depends on:
Extend Koha news feature to include other content areas https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=22318
OpacNavRight is the first content area to be moved to the "news" system so that multiple translations can be added.
Many thanks for the explanation, I found it! I was just a little confused because the space is still called "OpacNavRight" but there is no more such preference. The plan is to move all HTML content preferences into the news system. The OpacNavRight switch was just the first. However, things have stalled a bit since then. I'm still waiting for folks to test the next bug in the series, Bug 22880: Convert opacheader system preference to news block https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=22880 If that meets with approval it will lay the groundwork for the rest: OpacMainUserBlock, OpacNav, OpacCredits, etc. Please test if you can!
