"In-house use" vs "on-site" vs "reading room"
Hello Koha community, I developed a new feature [1] to track items in used in a library. It's like a normal checkout but the patron is not allowed to go out with it and has to return the item at the end of the day. I am looking for the best term to use on the interface (and in the code itself). If you are an English speaker, could you share with me how you call that? At the moment, I have 3 terms: "In house use", "on-site" and "reading room". I have to choose one! Regards, Jonathan [1] http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=10860

how about "in-library" or "intra-library" use? keeps it 'in the library' but doesn't necessary restrict it to a specific area with-in the library? -indra -- Indranil Das Gupta Phone : +91-98300-20971 Blog : http://indradg.randomink.org/blog IRC : indradg on irc://irc.freenode.net Twitter : indradg -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Please exchange editable Office documents only in ODF Format. Purely subjectively 'In house use' and 'on-site' sound a bit unnatural. 'reading room' seems to be a fairly common term for short loan collections of various types (irrespective of whether you can remove them from the room or even if there is a designated room) if that fits the functionality Cheers Colin -- Colin Campbell Chief Software Engineer, PTFS Europe Limited Content Management and Library Solutions +44 (0) 800 756 6803 (phone) +44 (0) 7759 633626 (mobile) colin.campbell@ptfs-europe.com skype: colin_campbell2 http://www.ptfs-europe.com

"In house use": sounds like anywhere in the library only. Might even have connotations that only librarians can touch it. "on-site": sounds technical compared to "In house use", without the librarian use only connotation. "reading room": sounds like it is only in a specific room, not anywhere in the library. Perhaps a mix? "on-site use"? "reading use only" as compared to the typical understanding of can take home and read? Though, it is too subtle in the "you can't take it home" department. I vote for in-library as Indra suggested. Very clear and concise. On Thu, Sep 11, 2014 at 6:34 PM, Mark Tompsett <mtompset@hotmail.com> wrote:
