We have been training our staff to catalogue in a second instance of Koha, building up a pile of new authorities as we go along. Exporting biblios is easy. But there doesn't seem to be a simple way to export authorities. Digging around I've found the information below, but it's from a couple years back and not exactly what I want to do. Ideally I want to download a selection from one catalogue and upload them to another. From what I can gather, I have to take a copy of all the authority records, delete the ones I don't need for the other catalogue (they are mostly duplicates) and then import the resulting file. Is this correct?
Is there a way to export Authorities from Koha?
I'd like to export them, batch process them to fix some marc8 vs UTF-8 encoding problem, and reimport them.
Can someone suggest a workflow?
If you modify authority records, you'll want to modify linked biblio records, and update zebra indexes. So you should use Koha authorities API: C4::AuthoritiesMarc. misc/exportauth.pl -- Elaine Bradtke Data Wrangler VWML English Folk Dance and Song Society | http://www.efdss.org Cecil Sharp House, 2 Regent's Park Road, London NW1 7AY Tel +44 (0) 20 7485 2206 ext 36 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Registered Company No. 297142 Charity Registered in England and Wales No. 305999 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Writing about music is like dancing about architecture" --Elvis Costello (Musician magazine No. 60 (October 1983), p. 52)
