Hello Wolf, Almost any barcode reader will work with Koha. We use a variety of readers here in Horowhenua Library Trust, and none has proved difficult to set up. The default barcodes on Koha are one alpha character, 7 numeric plus a check digit which may be 0-9 or X. The algorithm for calculating the check digit is in the attached spreadsheet, but I think a competent programmer could replace it with another standard barcode formula, if you already use something else. Or you could ask the koha developers list for help: koha-devel@lists.sourceforge.net Rosalie Blake Horowhenua Library Trust On 30 Sep 2002, at 17:56, Wolf N. Paul wrote:
Hello,
I am looking at using Koha for the Vienna Christian School Library here in Vienna, Austria.
Can anyone supply information on using bar code readers with Koha? I am interested in recommendations of particular brands and/or models of readers, how to configure them to interface with Koha, etc.
Our library workstations are running Windows 2000; our server is running Red Hat 7.2.
