I already know that the Patron Category Types are hardcoded in the system.
The category *types* are hard-coded. But you can create your own individual categories under any of those types.
Because in our library, the Adult and Child Category types are not really useful. So we are planning to add the following category types:
1. Student (does NOT need guarantor) 2. Employee (replacement to the Staff Category type)
At my library we don't find the guarantor feature to be useful, so we've created all our patron types as a subtype of the Adult category type. This doesn't adversely affect any aspect of patron management for us. -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org
