What didn't work about it? You got no results? or not the right amount? SELECT biblionumber, ExtractValue(marcxml, '//datafield[@tag="942"]/subfield[@code="c"]') AS comp FROM biblioitems Will give you biblionumber and the contents of 942c .. again only if your mysql server its 5.1.5 or greater Chris
