Hello, Ann! In our latest exchange, on 3 June 2021 at 8:06 [JST], I received from you: Beginning Koha user – so haven’t approached the administrators.
So are we. Only a little over two years.
I knew you could do this with MarcEdit – we use this extensively for post-processing. But just wanted to signal that you can do this in Koha as well.
Koha templates are used for batch editing when you **don’t** want to extract to MarcEdit and re-load.
We use them extensively for batch modification both on import and export (we’re a vendor, supply catalogue records to libraries).
I get the impression that they’re not widely used – since I’ve been struggling to find a mentor for the Koha flavour of reg-ex - in fact, searching for online info was how I found your query ;-)
Thanks on both counts. When we first began using Koha, a lot of people steered us to MarcEdit for cataloging, especially for editing records in batches or in bulk. MarcEdit is great in that respect. I had seen Koha templates on the Tools page, but I was too busy with other duties to do anything further. Thanks again. -- 気を付けて。 /ki wo tukete/ = Take care. -- Charles.
