Now I'm blushing! I'd advise cautioun on two accounts here: - MacOS has changed since the system I wrote about - ditto for Koha Playing with MacOS's unix underbelly requires a good deal of caution - and don't do anything you can't back out of unless you're prepared to reinstall the whole system, or are happy to live with whatever state the machine gets itself into ;-) Feel free to e-mail me direct if you need more help. I can always use distraction from my sea ice, and will see what I can dredge up. One final word: Once you have your apache settings working, back them up somewhere easy to find. MacOS system upgrades sometimes run riot over all your nice, clever apache configs. rrrr... cheers Adam. On 20/09/2005, at 10:00 AM, koha-request@lists.katipo.co.nz wrote:
Right -- Adam's instructions are very good, and you can find them here: http://lists.katipo.co.nz/public/koha/2005/004581.html

Hmm now I'm sure I saw that Adam in Australia had managed this a few months back - you might want to review the Koha archives - he gave quite good instructions from memory.

Try installing as root -- using not just the administrator password, but an actual root password (login by typing "su -l root"). You may have to set the root password, OS X usually doesn't use root for security reasons.
I was working on a step-by-step install guide, but got side- tracked by other jobs and need to get back to it and finish it.

Are there any step by step instructions out there for installing Koha on OS X? I'm having trouble locating clear instructions and can't get it to install. I'd really like to test it out for running a very small library but am a novice on the installation of this kind of system. I've got Perl, Apache and MySql all installed and think I've worked out how to get the installer going, but it's telling me it can't locate Install.pm in @INC.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks very much, Nicki

Darla, Thanks for getting back to me. I guess I was successful in converting from a Follett microlif format to MARC format.
The records do have to be in MARC format to use bulkmarcimport.pl?
Does the Upload Marc Record in Reservoir use the same perl script above?
Now I have to get the MARC tags and subfields to line up with the tables and table fields? What if there is a subfield listed in a record that is not a table field?
Thanks in advance.

Kent, you might want to take a look at the relevant documents on www.kohadocs.org, particularly the relevant sections of the Newbie Guide and the Users Guide. (always a good idea to start with the docs!)
