Dear All,
Does this mean that it is not possible to have both the barcode and create room for the accession number in another column? Thanks,
How about using 952$i -- it's defined as "inventory number" but you can easily modify that in your framework. You can use up to 24 alpha-numeric chracters. Paul

Dear Johnstone,
You could use barcode option itself for accommodating accession number for an item. When you go edit items for a particular record, you get to chose -Add item and multiple items option. For multiple copies ( items), just provide starting accession number and rest will be added in a sequence.

Dear All,
Yes. The barcode and accession number are different. Koha is able to add that automatic number called the barcode. But I wanted to add another number called accession number which is assigned to the item when it has been acquired.
