Another to add to the list-- http://www.wellingtonsightseeingtours.com/index.php They seem to use larger, comfier vehicles than Wellington Rover but I might be wrong. My wife and I took this one-- http://www.wellingtonsightseeingtours.com/palliser-bay-lotr-sights.php about 2 years ago. It's a good sampler of the region. And you might even get bit by a seal. It's worth knowing that any LOTR tour will be a lot of "this tree here was where dude was hiding in that scene where he was hiding from some folks / this cement factory is where some filming was done". There's no remaining evidence of movie production anywhere outside the Weta museum (which I've been meaning to visit, I hear is worthwhile). That said, 90% of the LOTR sites are very, very pretty and nice to visit if you like picture postcard scenes (it's worth the trip). -reed On Mon, Feb 1, 2010 at 8:22 AM, Nicole Engard <nengard@gmail.com> wrote:
Joann,
Chris also sent me this: http://www.wellingtonrover.co.nz/customised.htm We might be able to get a custom Koha LOTR tour - I know my hubby would love that - I bet others would as well.

I wonder if there would be interest if we got a travel agent to pull together a bunch of conference add ons: day trips for spouses, pre-conference road trip down the North island from Auckland to Wellington (only 8 hours drive but would be a lovely 2-3 trip via Rotorua), post conference trips down the South Island (fly out from Christchurch) etc.
What do folks think?
Cheers Jo.

Hi All
Now the dates and venue are confirmed, and two sponsors found so far (more gratefully accepted) it's time to work on a bit more planning.
With being Release Manager for 3.4 I am going to be flat out so I'm putting out a call for volunteers to help.
Things you can help with, - We need to put out a call for presenters soon, people to manage that would be neat. - Talking to hotels/backpackers in Wellington, to see if we can get a group discount. - Content for the website - Hackfest organiser - Anything else you can think of
