Hi Todd, On reflection I think you need to see if you can get someone to help with your migration from Unicorn/Symphony. The database toolkit you mention below might be OK for migrating your own private database from Oracle to Mysql but the Unicorn database tables and fields are completely different from the Koha ones. So I don't think there is much point in trying to migrate that way. The selcatalog options you found below are just specific options to get particular MARC fields for a particular record. I think you need to sit down with someone who understands getting data out of Unicorn and who understands getting data into Koha. Good candidates might be on the "pay for support" pages or perhaps one of the upcoming Koha enthusiasts that is more likely to also have recent advanced Unicorn experience such as Jane Wagner (who recently posted). I am happy to continue this discussion off-list but I think getting help from someone close to your timezone would be your best bet. Good luck for now. Thanks. HELP!!
HI Ian, I have found in Librarything.com how to use the selcatalog:
--To get the data in tab-delimited format, run the following command from the UNIX command line. selcatalog -iC -oe -e020,245,100 > ISBN_extract.out -e020,245,100 selects the fields which are extracted to file; 020 = ISBN, 245 = Title, 100 = author
Still having a an issue finding the other bits you spoke of (catalogdump and seluser with dumpflatuser) I am not finding anything on this. Can you please assist? Links to sites? Anything?

Hi Ian, You are so responsive...it's great!! And yes, I am new. We just finished the upgrade from Unicorn to Symphony (it seems as though we have wasted a lot of money and time but we are getting on track trying to implement Koha (we figure about 1 year). We have two servers with Koha (Lenny with Koha 3.0) one is virtual and one is just a desktop server for testing. We are using the MySQL Migration Toolkit ( https://www.regnow.com/softsell/nph-softsell.cgi?item=5160-30 ). I create a *.dmp file when doing an export from our Unicorn production to test server and have imported the dump file from our Symphony test server to the Koha MySQL using the migration tool. So...we imported the Oracle-Sirsi data into the Koha-MySQL but, now...how do we set it up? I don't get how to create the Koha db and what formats to apply. We did not the test db on the virtual Koha...do you recommend doing it? How about the tools that you are describing? Do you have any information on how to do this from SD to Koha given our setup? Man, any onformation you can give I would greatly apprecaite. We are wanting to be rid of SD within the year..
To get the bibliographic, item and user/borrower data you will be far better off using the SirsiDynix (is it Unicorn/Symphony?) tools to get the data out. If you have command-line access to your old system this will include using selcatalog, catalogdump and seluser with dumpflatuser. Then they will need a bit of manipulation to get into the format expected by Koha for importing bibliographic, item and borrower data.
If you plan to take lots of datasets across then extracting from Oracle and into Mysql sounds like a good bet.
I won't go into the detail of those commands here but do come back if you have any specific questions.
Good luck.
Ian
