We charge rental fees and to us it is important that the fees show on the circulation screen. If the fees do not display, staff do not remember to collect the fees. As we have the system preferences "RentalsInNoissuesCharge" and "Issuinginprocess" turned to Don't include and Don't prevent", these unpaid rental fees do not prevent borrowers from continuing to have items issued. We have noticed that the fees showing on the circulation screen do not included the last rental item issued. Before we take any action to fix the problem I would like to know if it is really necessary to display rental charges on the checkout screen? If a patron has existing fines or charges a message is shown at the top of the screen with the total. Those of use you charge rental fees, is it important to show rental fees on the checkout screen, or is it sufficient to see a total amount owed? Clicking through to the Fines page shows you accurate details of any outstanding fees or charges.
