Hi Koha Community,
Our University is currently using cds/isis and winisis database format, does koha reads this format or it needs to be converted to marc. is there a convertion utility that converts isis format to marc format? Thanks for any help.
Very good question... Someone from edu.do asked me the same today... He sends me a cd/isis sample file, and, KOHA DOES NOT UNDERSTAND IT. It's not MARC format, it seems.
If cd/isis can't export marc (which i don't know), a little tool must be made to convert from cd/isis to marc. It should not be too hard if cd/isis format is public.
From: http://www.unesco.org/webworld/isis/art1999_unimarc.htm ============================================================================ Many libraries around the world are automating for the first time and a considerable number are using CDS/ISIS as the software to enable this. The key features of the package as far as developing a library catalogue is concerned are user-friendly data entry which employs the features of Windows text editing and allows data to be entered into identifiable fields (identified by tags and field names if required); the database creation function allows UNIMARC fields and subfields to be defined in the structure of the data elements of the records; and there is an export and import feature which allows data in the database to be reformatted to bring it in line with the requirements of the UNIMARC exchange format. ============================================================================ Looks like there's an export feature in there somewhere...
