Dear all, I can understand expectations about Windows but you can not forget that it will always behind the latest LINUX release. Download VMWARE server. Install a Virtual Machine with SUse or Debian and KOHA. Add SAMBA server too. After that you can run and copy that virtual machine for other computer if you need. Use Windows Explorer to view all files (translation, templates, etc.) through SAMBA Install a SQL client (SQLYog) to access MYSQL database. Use a text editor to manage file content (Notepad++) or Texpad (Commercial but very powerful). Even if you need support it is a one time shot and will be for future. Hi Scott,
2009/3/25 PETERSON, SCOTT <PETERSONSCOTT@aasd.k12.wi.us>:
Hello,
If I am directing this to the wrong place, please let me know. My school district is looking at installing Koha 3 on Windows. I'm using Strawberry Perl as outlined in the Wiki docs, but have one question (I believe it's for Chris Nighswonger). Under the section on installing Net::Z3950::ZOOM, it says:
Modified ZOOM Makefile.PL for use on Win32 (see attached Makefile.PL)
Do you have this modified Makefile.PL? If so, can I get a copy of it? I don't see a link to it on the site.
Most likely that line was taken from an email with the file attached to it. IIRC, the changes were mainly adapting pathing to Win32 pathing syntax. It has been awhile since I did that work and the test system I had it on no longer exists.
I might also point out that LibXSLT never would compile on Win32. This was a noted issue with the maintainer of Strawberry Perl. I am unsure if things have changed. If LibXSLT were to be ported to Win32, I think a fully working install of Koha 3 on Win32 would be very near reality. I seem to recall a post a while back by someone offering to put some time on porting LibXSLT. I'm not sure if that ever took off or not. Of course other modules have been added in the prereqs since this work was done and those would have to be verified on Win32 as well and ported if necessary.
I'd love to pick this back up, but just do not have the time to right now.
