Sounds like you have a problem that is outside of my knowledge base. I'm including the entire Koha list in this so they can help you out. --- Nicole C. We are still having problems with search. The search is not able to find any items which are in the system. We have tried to re-index zebra (perl -I \usr...\rebuild.pl -b -a -r), but we still do not get results in the search, what else can we try? We wanted to also try to run the z3950daemon but we can not locate it on the system. Do we need to install it separately?

That is a cron job that needs to be set on the server level. It is mentioned a few times in the FAQ in the manual: http://sites.google.com/a/liblime.com/koha-manual/Home/Table-of-Contents/App...

Hi Nicole Many thanks for the advice about the requirement for authority records. I found the system preference that needed changing and it is working fine now. Where do I set up the schedule for re-indexing. I can't find reference to this in the manual? Many thanks Irene

Irene,
Those fields are grayed out because you have the system preference set to require authority records for those fields. I can't remember what the preference is off the top of my head, but the manual may help you. Here's the manual: http://sites.google.com/a/liblime.com/koha-manual/
As for the record not being found, this is because your search engine hasn't reindexed yet. You need to set that up to run on some sort of schedule.

We have recently installed Koha 3 on Linux and have encountered a problem when adding bibliographic records manually. When using the catalogue module some subfields in certain tags are greyed out and do not allow data to be entered. The tags concerned are: 100, 600 and 700. Also when the record is saved and an item added it can not be located through either the staff search component or using the OPAC despite the fact that when it is issued using the barcode the system recognises the bibliographic details that were entered (minus the greyed out tags). Obviously we seem to have missed a pretty basic setting somewhere. Can anyone help please?
