[Koha] Barcode Scanners

Is there a generally recommended bar code scanner to use for check-in/check-out? Would that same scanner work for doing inventory? The scanner section of the documentation seems a bit sparse in describing how to configure the scanner to work, perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place? And finally, is anyone using a mobile phone app to do barcode scanning? Trying to get a general feel for what we should be looking for. Thanks for any help!
