This was pretty much my experience too. Ubuntu's little graphical package manager is quite handy for the debian package list, which you can import in.
I also note that the current thread "Problem installing Koha" has had a few ubuntu people in it, so it may not go swimmingly.
Yes, the synaptic package manager is a nice thing, indeed. It takes a moron like me and grants the power to install things with a click or too. I hope that eventually we attract someone that can jigger up one of them there packages for Koha. Unfortunately, they don't grow on trees. Cheers, Brooke
