Hi Deon You are quite right. A search on titles is sorted alphabetically by titles. A search by author, is sorted by author. But a keyword search is not sorted. How should it be sorted?
Just to toss out an idea, what about provide options to sort a keyword search? Maybe things like: sort by circulation frequency, sort by ratings (this would mean developing a rating system), sort by Author, sort by Title, sort by Keyword Frequency (for more complex searches), etc.
Pat's suggestion sounds good. I like the idea of having choices to sort. I know the research scientists in my library would prefer options. Yesterday when I did a test search using "dogs" results equaled over 250 hits. Some form of sorting would be beneficial if not only to list be year of publication. thanks for the quick responses. dd * * * * * * * * * Deon Dempsey, MLIS University of Texas at Austin Institute for Geophysics http://www.ig.utexas.edu http://www.gslis.utexas.edu/~ddempsey
