We have recently installed koha for our small library.
1. Is it possible to record borrowings without using a barcode. I couldn't get it to do this.
2. What kind of barcode system have you used and could anybody recommend suppliers in the Auckland region.
I have just come back from installing Koha at Te Waipounamu and had my problems with the barcodes. We ended up using them a serial numbers. Each book is given a unique serial number, including multiple copies. If two books are given the same number then the second book cannot be issued as the database records it as having zero copies in the library. I found it useful to backup /var/lib/mysql/Koha and to restore it when I had to start again. The barcodes gave me grief until I discovered what was happening.
