a) Search result pages seem to disregrad settings set in "System preferences". I have set defaultSortField: callnumber defaultSortOrder: ascending OPACdefaultSortField: callnumber OPACdefaultSortOrder: ascending yet, both cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl and cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/ search.pl default to order by relevance, regardless.
Did you test with any option besides callnumber? In my test it appeared that all other options worked, and callnumber was the exception.

Manos, I believe you are being affected by the following two bugs, both making their way through QA right now: Callnumber sort doesn't work: http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=8657 defaultSortOrder and OPACdefaultSortOrder are set to "ascending" on install http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=8012 Hopefully soon these patches will get through QA and you will be able to update to get everything in order. :) Liz Rea NEKLS -- Northeast Kansas Library System lrea@nekls.org 785-838-4090
