That does sound like a good workable solution, thanks. You could also probably put the students photo with it to make it even easier. Thanks muchly for your thoughts Jon On Thu, Feb 17, 2011 at 11:06 AM, chad <chad@pennmanor.net> wrote:
Hi Jon,
I work for a school district and I think we solved this problem a different way.
I imported all of the student homerooms as attributes into koha. As you noticed that doesn't help with searching. However I created a report that generates a pdf with scannable barcodes based on the room attribute.
This allows the librarian to print a barcode sheet per classroom. When the kids come in for that class she can do a completely keyboard-less checkout by utilizing the patron barcode sheets.
If this is something you would be interested in I can probably send you an example pdf and the source.

Hello All,
I am testing out Koha for a small international school in Bogota Colombia, and I was wondering if there is a way to display a list of patrons, say from a whole class in the circulation screen. I tried adding a patron attribute type for the grade level, but that did not seem to allow me to search this way. I have my own copy of Koha setup on a VM presently, so I have easy access to all the files.
Thanks.
