We recently downloaded Koha 2.2 to trial as a possible replacement for our current library system, Dynix. We are a special library with a collection of about 35,000 documents, a high proportion of which are serials which is why we have been waiting for the Serials module to become available. I'm still muddling through setting up parameters and trying to understand how everything works but so far I like what I see. However, we want to make sure that we won't be losing any functionality by moving to Koha so it will be a while before we make a firm decision. In the meantime, I'm asking: - does Serials have routing/circulation lists? - what are the search capabilities of Koha - e.g. proximity, Boolean, etc. - is there an option to use synonyms e.g. color/colour? - how are spine labels printed? - is the wording of notices e.g. reminders, claims in Acquisitions and Serials, done by the library or are they default? - is there a facility for statistics-only checkouts i.e. photocopied articles - the number issued? I'd appreciate any feedback from anyone using serials. And/or from anyone who has made the switch from another library system, commenting on benefits or otherwise.
