If I'm right in assuming that this is a pretty cut-and-dry issue, I would appreciate any recommendations on specific vendor sources or models that work well. Usual criteria would apply -- reliability, price, value, etc. My personal favorite is the Voyager Metrologic scanner line. A search on Google can get you a list of vendors you can purchase it from.
