Wesley, Over the last year, I've been working on migrating the Crawford County Federated Library system over to Koha from Winnebago. Stephen is dead on when he says that each ILS needs custom programming to import patron data into Koha. I've put my migration scripts in koha-tools ( koha-tools.sourceforge.net ). You can check them out to get an idea of what needs to happen. What ILS is your college using at the moment?

there is no standard way to store patron data; every proprietary system does it a little differently. That's one big difference between Koha and a commercial ILS. If you buy a new commercial ILS, the vendor handles the nasty migration work. With Koha, you either do it yourself or contract with someone like LibLime to help.

Okay I'm a student of a small College and I'm being hired as a side job to see just how pratical Koha is for their Library. After some experimentation this has left me with several questions at how to do certain tasks. My skills with some stuff are decent but this is still a massive learning curve for me.
