Could you please give some references to this? I'll be happy to believe that it's a "good thing", but it sounds more like a catastrophe and/or an IT nightmare. Remove punctuation from records, add them back in templates or whatever to make them human readable; retrain all cataloguers; demolish tens of millions LoC, BL, NLF, LAC records? I'd like to read more... Best -- P.
