They appear to have the same purpose in life. Ummm... Not really, 942$c is to define your bibliographic record's itemtype. Whereas 952$y is for specific copies of your holding. Your holds, circ rules depend on 952$y, whereas your item type searches depend on 942$c. This is an area of common misconception, but the difference between 942c and 952y is critical to Koha internally.. :-) Hope this helps. Indranil
