Why would you want to edit the register as you call it (usually referred to as the Directory)? What is the source of the "analysis"? Normally, one wouldn't want to edit the Directory because it provides the structure to the long string of alphanumeric characters that compose a MARC record, allowing Koha and other library programs the ability to take the data and fill in a table (the Directory allows a line to become a matrix). Were you having some problem importing MARC data? Exporting? If you want/need to edit MARC data prior to importing into Koha there are free tools available such as the very useful MARCEdit. You can download it gratis off the MARC Specialized Tools page at the Library of Congress site at: URL <http://www.loc.gov/marc/marctools.html> . This tool will decompile the Directory properly into a tagged format that will allow you to edit the field data. When done editing, you can re-convert records into true MARC and MARCEdit will make all the necessary changes to the Directory. I hope that this information has helped.
