[Koha] Binding journals

Hi folks

This might seem like a silly question, but how does Koha manage serials to be bound together? It creates an item record per serial issue on issue receipt, but once we send several issues to be bound into a volume do we have to delete those items manually? Or is there some Koha process that takes care of that? (and how does this work?)
