[Koha] Koha 16.05 - Zebra: Adding/activating music-related Bib1 Attributes for Searching

Hi all,

Koha 16.05 on Ubuntu 14.04 (package install)

I'm looking at possibly modifying Zebra so it can perform targeted searches on MARC fields found in music-based resources. I've been studying the 16.05 manual (3. Koha Search Indexes) and related documentation to learn about how Zebra/Koha/MARC are related and work behind the scenes.

To start, two bib1 attributes that would be worthwhile for us to activate so we can search on them would be "Thematic-number" and "Music-key". I'd like for staff to be able to conduct a focused search on the MARC subfields to which these two Bib1 attributes are mapped (i.e., 130$n, 130$r; 240$n,240$r; 700$n, 700$r, etc.)

Now, these attributes exist in /etc/koha/zebradb/ccl.properties; but, they are commented out.


1.       What would happen if I uncommented them, saved the file, restarted zebra and did a full re-index?

2.       What would I have to do in addition to the above in order to get Koha to recognize these attributes as being available for searching on?

Modifying Zebra makes me somewhat nervous, so, as always, I seek comfort in the sage advice of the Koha CW.
