To further follow up on Chris' post, please follow the instructions on
http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_ubuntu_-_packages

You may encounter some difficulties around the instance creation, because of 
Apache difficulties. However, if you go online to the IRC channel, some one 
there can likely help you get past those Apache blips. And then you can run 
the Web install steps, and everything should be fine with a nice default 
packages install of Koha.

Such as Red Hat and other Red Hat based Linux versions. Though it is 
possible with considerably more difficulty to install under them. I have 
gotten CentOS to work once ages back. Though, I think Fedora is more likely 
to succeed.
