Please do NOT respond to "Digest" -- it was pure luck that I saw your post.
The default framework does include 880 $2-9,a-z as "ALTERNATE GRAPHIC
REPRESENTATION" -- see <http://www.loc.gov/marc/holdings/hd880.html> -- so
you can create (para 4.1 of the manual) your own new framework derived from
default.
