and pay particular attention to the values 1 to 4 (backup, start low and 
backup every time.).

I have successfully recovered from failures as described (any previous 
corruption of *data* will not be fixed.) Lessons: you never have too many 
backups and innodb can be sensitive to insipid HD failure - consider a 
RAIDed setup.  Also note that this email is not technical advice, and I
