FWD, please reply to FORH at critfc.org she is troubleshooting our upgrade to 3.6.

This is a new install of Debian Squeeze and koha from the koha-common debian package. The database was loaded from a koha 3.00 version we've been using for several years.

Currently the opac site works perfectly on port 80 but the catalog search function in the internet site on port 8080 fails. A search on "trout" on the internet site returns "No results found - No results match your search..." while the same search on the opac site returns 2412 results.

Output from #ps aux|grep zebra is this:
1001 1167 0.0 0.0 2156 540 ? S Mar28 0:00 daemon --name=streamnet-koha-zebra --errlog=/var/log/koha/streamnet/zebra-error.log --stdout=/var/log/koha/streamnet/zebra.log --output=/var/log/koha/streamnet/zebra-output.log --verbose=1 --respawn --delay=30 --user=streamnet-koha.streamnet-koha -- zebrasrv -v none,fatal,warn -f /etc/koha/sites/streamnet/koha-conf.xml
1001 1168 0.0 0.2 27828 4260 ? S Mar28 0:00 zebrasrv -v none,fatal,warn -f /etc/koha/sites/streamnet/koha-conf.xml
root 7321 0.0 0.0 3308 776 pts/2 S+ 09:19 0:00 grep zebra

The rebuild_zebra script runs fine.
The global search setting is set to use zebra.
I've seen a lot of references to permissions being set correctly but little info about what exactly they should be. My /usr/share/koha files were installed with root:root rwxr-xr-x ownership. The other directories are a mix as installed although I had to change a few of them along the way to get some of the scripts to run.

I get the same error when using a browser on the localhost machine and when I use a browser on a different machine.

Ideas on why opac search works and internet search fails on the same machine?

Thanks,
Hilary

Subject: Re: Search on Koha fix?

Hi Lenora,

For reference, I'm installing on Ubuntu (11 something, the latest), using
Koha 3.6.4.

I'm assuming it's an issue with the Search functions like I was having? My
biggest help was following the Install.ubuntu directions that are found in
the koha install files. The best way for me to be able to direct you,
would be if you were to tell me currently what's happening. Errors with
running the migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl script? I found over and over
again that correct permissions were an issue, and making sure my correct
environment variables were continually being exported (I currently have to
do it every time I startup ... I'll have to fix that soon).

Anyway, best would be if you could tell me where you're at, and I would
love to be able to help!

Sincerely,
-Cody
