[Koha] OPAC filters

Greetings friends, the Koha documentation for the OPAC shows a beautiful example of Filters (10.1.2) at
http://koha-community.org/documentation/3-2-manual/index.php?ch=c87250

Our OPAC does not display a filters column, though there is white space for it with Firefox 3.6.10, Google Chrome 6.0.472.63 and even Explorer. We are using Koha version 3.01.00.145 and would like to use Filters. Any advise on where to look or what to do?
