[Koha] Trying to import bibs with holdings

I've done a certain amount with MarcEdit, but I haven't seen this capability yet. I see that the =001 field of your bibliographic record equals the =004 field of your item record, so some matching would have to take place. (i.e. if =004 equals =001 then delete ..., replace 842 with 942, etc.)

Do you have a possibility to export in MARCXML, which might give you some additional options. I'm sure there's various ways to solve your problem, but it seems to need to be programmed in some way.

I've looked at MarcEdit, but I'm not familiar with it. I couldn't see any options that looked as though they would do what I needed to do.

Perry,

Have you tried MarcEdit? It's designed to let you massage MARC data in batches, so you can preprocess your exported records before importing them into Koha. http://people.oregonstate.edu/~reeset/marcedit/html/index.php

For multiple item records, you can map each 852 to a 952 for Koha to ingest (one 952 per holding). You may need to scrub out those extra leaders and 00X's, and map your subfields differently. See the 3.0 manual for details: http://koha.org/documentation/manual/3.0/cataloging/item-fields-data-migration

Hope this helps!

In Koha 3.0.02, I am trying to import a batch of bib records exported from a Voyager system. I want to include the holdings, but Voyager exports the holdings separate from the bib record.

Here's an example from the MARC file:

Each bib record is followed by its associated holdings records. It appears that Koha doesn't work like that but looks for the holdings data in (I think) a 942 field in the bib record. Does anybody know of a way for me to move the data in from the 852 in the holding record into a 942 in the bib record? I've been tearing my hair out over this and thought that I had come up with a solution using sed, but can't figure out how to deal with multiple holdings. Thanks.
