Hi all,
I am working through the implemnentation checklist from the Koha 3.0
manual, in readiness for shifting from Koha 2.x to 3.x.
I am at the part where I need to create vendors and budgets.
My question is regarding Vendors.
In our existing Koha 2.x, we have way too many vendors:
104 inactive vendors with no outstanding orders
37 inactive vendors with old orders prior to 2009 (these are highly
unlikely to be delivered now)
42 active vendors with no outstanding orders
44 active vendors with outstanding orders due prior to 2009 (a tiny %
of these may still arrive)
21 active vendors with outstanding orders dated 2009 (highly likely to
arrive)
We are in the process of contracting out our book selection as from June
so 13 vendors only will be used going forward.
Q1. So, for the purposes of preparing for implementation of Koha 3.0 do
I need to manually enter the vendors into Koha 3.0 or will they be
brought over in the conversion process automatically?
Q2. Do we need to keep inactive vendors who supplied books which we
still have in our current collection? ie will removing or omitting the
vendor from the database 'break' the link back to the actual order
information from the item screen?
Thanks for any help and advice,
Cheers Jo
